Enjoy this 5-day trip, which combines the beauty of Costa Rica's Panoramic City, volcanoes, waterfalls, an island in the pacific, protected gardens and forests...
Itinerary Day 1. San José Welcome at Juan Santamaría International Airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we will begin exploring Costa Rica with a Panoramic City Tour, showcasing the culture and history of Costa Rica through visits to museums and historic sites in San José. During this tour, we'll see historically significant sites like the National Theater, a patriotic monument constructed by Costa Rican hands in 1897, also known as "The Jewel of San José", the Costa Rican Gold Museum (an archaeological site of interest), and numerous other important stops in the city, such as the University of Costa Rica, the old train station, the National Liquor Factory, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, the Legislative Assembly, the Metal Building, parks, and more.
Day 2. San José – Coffee Tour + Poás Volcano – La Paz Waterfall Today's tour takes us along the Pan-American Highway to the city of Alajuela. As we ascend to the volcano, we'll stop for a Coffee Tour where we'll learn about our "golden bean" and continue our journey through fern, flower, and strawberry farms. As we climb, the temperature changes and the lush cloud forest vegetation becomes more apparent, preparing us to enjoy the pleasures of the Poás Volcano National Park. Next, we'll explore the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a natural park where we'll walk real trails to butterfly observatories, an aviary, an insect display, monkey areas, a hummingbird garden, the old house, a frog pond, a serpentarium, a feline area, and a typical house with three waterfall viewpoints. After our walk, we'll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
Day 3. San José – The Pacific This morning, we head to the Pacific Coast. We'll discover the magic of a dreamy island located in the Gulf of Nicoya, Turtle Island (called Tolinga by the natives), which remains a protected forest and has been awarded the Ecological Blue Flag for over five years, signifying that its waters are pollution-free. Due to its geographical features, its waters are turquoise and ideal for swimming. Time to enjoy the beach. Lunch on the beach. In the afternoon, we will prepare to return to San José. Overnight stay.
Day 4. San José – Orosi Valley and Lankester Gardens Visit to Irazú Volcano. After visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels in Cartago, we'll move to the Lankester Gardens, a research center of the University of Costa Rica that houses over 800 species of orchids and bromeliads along with numerous other plants. Next, we will head to the Orosi Valley, a place where creation overflows in uniquely beautiful settings. Here, you can visit one of the few functioning colonial temples and stop for a delicious lunch. On the way back, we'll see the rustic Casa del Soñador, a prime example of Costa Rican primitive art. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
